THE DAVID AUGUSTA UNIT SCHOLARSHIPS
David Augusta was a lifelong passionate member for public education and served ECOEA as President and Executive Director. David also served on the OEA Board of Directors representing ECOEA and as an NEA Director. David retired from Louisville City Schools and continued his career as an educator at Stark State College. David was instrumental in establishing the Unit Scholarships so it is a fitting memorial that they be named in his honor.
The Unit Scholarship Drawing was held at the November ECOEA Executive Committee meeting. There was one winner drawn from each of the three ECOEA voting units. The winners are:
- Unit 1-Connor McKenney, Fairless Education Association
- Unit 2-Korie Haswell, East Holmes Teachers’ Association
- Unit 3-Candice Robinson, North Canton Education Association
The Unit Scholarship is $500 and is paid by reimbursement after documentation of payment and completion has been provided to ECOEA. Coursework must be completed by August 31, 2023. The Unit Scholarship may only be used for tuition, course fees, or conference registration in the field of employment by the applicant. It may not be used for extraneous expenses such as parking, meals, books, travel. The applicant may not be receiving other reimbursement for the same course from their Board of Education. Previous Unit Scholarship winners are ineligible to participate in any future Unit Scholarship lotteries per ECOEA policy. Congratulations to this year’s winners!
